It's pretty stifling to consider living with so little freedom and control over one's own life. In India, women are subjected to a variety of hardships on a daily basis. Women have been forced to fight for equality for ages in all societies. Thousands of Indian women are being treated unfairly and ostracised in society, which leaves them lacking the knowledge and self-assurance needed to lead happy and honourable lives. Incredibly, 245 million women in India are illiterate at the moment. This drastically restricts their status and the options they have in society.

SHOP FOR A CAUSE

Through the delivery of vocational training and professional skills, our project Rooh (Awakening Women's Soul) allows women to produce self-employment and a means of income. We assist ladies in overcoming their worst phobias and achieving independence. They participate in a variety of activities, such as creating Handicraft Products, and receive training in many professions according to their inclinations. These handmade goods are primarily created from garbage and transformed into really practical items. Making these goods is for the ladies a source of pride in their ability to stand on their own two feet and demonstrate their independence.

• By purchasing these hand made products you can make a small contribution in raising the spirits and confidence of the less-privileged women who make them specially for us.

• The profit that comes from selling these products is given to the women who create it and some of it is utilized in the programs of Lakshyam related to education and empowerment.
